30% Cash Rebate – Filming in Sarajevo

The Sarajevo Canton Government has introduced a new incentive scheme for the production of audiovisual works in the Sarajevo Canton. Incentives for film production are introduced to encourage film production, create favorable conditions for the development of professions and projects in the field of film as well as to promote production and service potentials of the Sarajevo Canton as a filming location.

INCENTIVE TYPE

Cash rebate

AMOUNT

30% of eligible costs spent on the production of an audiovisual work in the Sarajevo Canton, based on the report by a certified auditor.

MINIMUM LOCAL SPEND

For feature film or TV film: BAM 100,000 (EUR 50,000);

For TV series: BAM 100,000 (EUR 50,000) per episode;

For feature-length documentary film and series: BAM 100,000 (EUR 50,000);

For short film and video: BAM 60,000 (EUR 30,000).

FORMATS

Feature film, TV film, TV series, feature-length documentary film and series, short film, video.

APPLICATION DEADLINE  

The deadline is announced in Public Calls by the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Culture and Sports three times a year and/or until the funds planned for this purpose in the Sarajevo Canton Budget are spent.

ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS 

An eligible applicant is a legal entity registered in the Sarajevo Canton that produces an audiovisual work in the territory of the Sarajevo Canton as a producer, co-producer or for which it provides production services or an association headquartered in the Sarajevo Canton, whose objectives and activities are aimed at supporting the development of film production and audiovisual work.

ELIGIBLE COSTS

Only costs related to the production of an audiovisual work are recognized as eligible costs. The costs incurred and paid to legal or natural persons on the Sarajevo Canton territory related to the purchased goods, provided services, used locations and paid fees to crew members.

INELIGIBLE COSTS    

The costs that are not recognized as eligible costs incurred in connection with the production of an audiovisual work are: marketing costs, costs related to the purchase of real estate, distribution costs and value added tax. Only costs spent on the production of an audiovisual work are recognized as incentive costs.

TOTAL BUDGET

The Sarajevo Canton Government determines the budget for the incentive scheme by the Law on the Sarajevo Canton Budget for the current budget year.

PROCEDURE

Applications are submitted on the prescribed form to the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Culture and Sports with all the necessary documentation, as prescribed by the Regulation and the Public Call. The Commission makes a decision within 15 days from the day of closing the Public Call. In case the application is approved, the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Culture and Sports signs the Incentive Agreement with the applicant. The Ministry pays the approved amount of incentive funds after the completion of the production of an audiovisual work, provided that all the obligations stipulated by the Regulation and the Agreement have been fulfilled.

VAT

VAT is not an eligible cost.
