Ardán, as manager of Galway City of Film / Ceantar Scannán, looks forward to welcoming delegates from designated UNESCO Creative Cities of Film around the world to Galway this September!
Representatives will join us from Sofia, Bulgaria; Gydnia, Poland; Bradford, UK; Valladolid, Spain; Bristol, UK; Sarajevo, Bosnia; Łódź, Poland; Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam; Cannes, France; Potsdam, Germany; Cluj-Napoca, Romania; Terrassa, Spain; São Paulo, Brazil; Wellington, New Zealand; Busan, South Korea; Yamagata, Japan; and Qingdao, China.
Four-day cultural experience of Galway City & County
The delegates will arrive in to Galway on September 28th, where on their first night, they’ll get to enjoy the Sunday screening of the Little Cinema/ Galway City of Film 48 Hour Challenge. On Monday, September 29th, the delegates will enjoy the surroundings of Claregalway Castle for a day of meetings.
On Monday evening, the delegates will join local dignitaries and industry peers in St. Nicholas’s Church for a celebration of Galway through the mediums of poetry, music, dance and film. The night will also include a collaboration with Belfast City of Music and Dublin City of Literature.
Following morning meetings, Tuesday will include a FAM (familiarisation) tour west to Spiddal and the Ros Na Rún set, where our delegates will be introduced to local industry representatives including TG4, Danú Media and Fíbín Media. Tuesday evening will include a cultural exploration of Galway City and evening entertainment.
The Subnetwork meeting concludes on Wednesday, September 30th, with the planning of network follow-ups and a handover to the 2027 host, Bristol.
About the UNESCO Cities of Film Network:
Galway has been a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities of Film Subnetwork since 2014. The annual Cities of Film Subnetwork Meeting is hosted each year in a different City of Film, last year in Busan, South Korea, and the year previous in Terrassa, Spain. Ardán is honoured to host this year’s subnetwork meeting in Galway City of Film / Ceantar Scannán!
