On Wednesday 9th of August 2023, a new exhibition opened in Filmpark Babelsberg. Under the question “What makes Potsdam a City of Film?” the exhibition takes a look beyond the fence of the theme park and provides insights into the surrounding world of the film city Potsdam.

Short texts provide answers to the question and illuminate amongs others the areas of film and series production, film locations, cinemas and film festivals, education and new technologies. Institutions and buildings in the surrounding area are shown, such as the Film University Babelsberg KONRAD WOLF, Filmmuseum Potsdam, Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) and the Studio Babelsberg. QR codes offer the possibility to access further information directly and easily. Titles of Films and series, that were made in Potsdam, are named as well, so that the exhibition becomes an interface between film tourism, film studies and the film industry.

This year, Filmpark Babelsberg is celebrating its 30th anniversary and has been showing three new shows since the start of the season in April. Whether stunt shows, action cinema, Snapchat Factory, Jim Button adventure playground or medieval town – the theme park is one of the largest in Germany and offers interesting insights into the world of film for all ages.
