On the 22nd and 23rd of this month, a new educational film festival has been released in the city of Terrassa: the Sex Education Film Festival. This international short film festival is dedicated to the fundamental role of sex education in the training of people. With the participation of filmmakers from the sector and from thirty different countries, it seeks to disseminate social, educational and cultural values related to sexuality, creativity, as well as create awareness and cooperation.
Despite being the first edition, the Sex Education Film Festival has already had a participation with a great global projection; it has received 180 short films from numerous countries including France, Switzerland, Brazil, Egypt and the United States, among others. A total of 29 are the audiovisual pieces that have been shown at the Cinema Catalunya since Monday, with a very varied audience. In the morning, the shorts in the Teens category will be shown to secondary students from different high schools around the city, and in the afternoon, the shorts in the Adult category will be shown to a mature audience. The morning sessions were extended to Wednesday and Thursday for the eight high schools in the city that requested it.
The Sex Education Film Festival was born with the intention of encouraging young people to discover sexuality, without taboos or prejudices. In addition, this festival is firmly aligned with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) of the UN 2030 Agenda, as it gives visibility and support to values such as Quality, Inclusive and Equitable Education (SDG No. 4). ) and Gender Equality (SDG No. 5).
